Spring finally arrived in our beautiful Ambleside and everyone is out and about. Visitors come here mainly to enjoy the gorgeous landscape and are usually setting off to the hills from early morning. Nothing can replace the walking experience, but even though we are blessed with loads of sunshine (especially lately) you may appreciate a back up plan when the weather is not so good. Just across the road from Ambleside Central you will find The Ambleside Climbing wall.
The Ambleside Climbing is 35 ft and is a replica of a real crag taken from a direct mold of natural limestone. It offers 45+ routes in the Main Wall and 30+ routes in the Bouldering Room.
If you have never climbed before you can book one of the Taster sessions which concentrate on the fun side rather the technical aspects of climbing. There are kids clubs fro the young climbers and you can even book a private instructor for kids as young as 4. There are family courses available to book as well, not only for the climbing wall but also for different outdoor experiences - Rock climbing, Gorge Scrambling, Canoeing and Kayaking, Abseiling and Wild Camping. And if you want to relax and watch your friends or family concurring the wall, there is a perfect spot. Cafe Altitude is situated on the top floor and is overlooking the wall. You can see everything through the glass walls while enjoying a cup of nice coffee and cake.
