'leisure'this is a great place to stay - ok its basic re toiletries and no breakfast but the rooms are great and you know this in advance - an added bonus is that its connected to the italian restaurant next door and the gilded lily pub next door also - both are great and run by nice people - we all (6) enjoyed our stay and wouls stay again

'24 hr peak challenge'We did the 24hr peak challenge this weekend (bank holiday) I think we got the last room in Ambleside having leaving booking our room very late. I read other reviews and was a little worried as to what to expect as they weren't very good. We arrived and checked in at the restaurant as it stated, the young girl was very good and helped us with all our enquiries. The room was just a room with three beds but that is all we needed as we weren't there for any other reason as to sleep. It was all very comfortable and very clean. The concept of the business is fantastic and we didn't move from the ther establishments, room, restaurant and bar. The batman George was brilliant and very accommodating. Excellent weekend and excellent hospitality.

'Surprising hotel'I was a little frustrated with the awkward parking (in part as we had a newborn with us so had a lot of baggage) and the stairs were a tiny bit of a pain - was unaware we were on second floor.

Checking in and out was a bit odd too - no-one took my card details when there so I can only presume the charges were as agreed during booking. I suppose if staying again, I would be more accustomed to it being a little "different".

BIG however - I was really surprised at the room. Plenty big enough, even for our travel cot. Furniture was in good order and modern. Room was fresh and clean - bathroom facilities were excellent. When entering the room from the corridor, I got a genuine "wow" as it was not expected from the outside.

With that said, the hotel does not advertise itself on its strengths - I didn't know I was getting this quality of room and, based on the outside, I would have avoided it had I not booked on the net. If I had, I would have missed out as the room was lovely.

'Just The Job'Ambleside Central was exactly what we wanted - out and about during the day and evening and somewhere to put our heads down! Plenty of options for breakfast on the doorstep. As the name suggests very central for Ambleside. We would stay here again. Helpful owner.
